Déjà vu refers to the uncanny sensation of experiencing a current situation as if it has been previously encountered, despite no prior memory of it. This phenomenon, often described as a fleeting sense of familiarity, occurs when the brain mistakenly interprets the present moment as a recollection from the past. Although its exact cause remains elusive, researchers suggest that déjà vu might arise from a temporary glitch in memory processing, where the brain confuses incoming sensory information with stored memories, creating a compelling illusion of repetition.
