The Quinotaur is a mythological sea creature mentioned in Frankish legends, often depicted as a half-bull, half-fish being. Its most notable appearance comes from a story in the Liber Historiae Francorum (a 7th-century chronicle), where it is said that the Merovingian dynasty's founder, King Merovech, was conceived when his mother was seduced by this creature while swimming in the sea.
