The Fête du Muguet (Lily of the Valley Day) is a French tradition celebrated on May 1st, which coincides with Labor Day (Fête du Travail). On this day, it's customary to offer small bouquets of lily of the valley (muguet) as a symbol of good luck and happiness. This tradition dates back to the Renaissance, when King Charles IX of France received a lily of the valley sprig as a lucky charm and decided to make it a custom. Since then, the flower has become a symbol of spring and renewal. In modern France, street vendors sell muguet, and people exchange it with friends and loved ones to wish them prosperity and happiness for the coming year.
